a 3-minute reset

Breathe yourself toward sleep.

Follow the breathing reset below — no signup, it runs right here. It's the 4-7-8 pattern: inhale for four, hold for seven, exhale for eight. Here's how it helps you settle.

4-7-8 breathing

Slow, paced breathing like 4-7-8 supports relaxation and helps you wind down.

Slow supports general relaxation. It isn't medical advice or treatment. In crisis, call or text 988 (US), or text HOME to 741741.

Why slow breathing helps you wind down

A long, slow exhale is one of the simplest ways to tell your body it's safe to relax. The 4-7-8 pattern stretches the exhale and adds a gentle hold, which slows the breath right down and gives a busy mind a quiet rhythm to follow instead of its to-do list.

Counting the breath does double duty: it paces you, and it occupies the part of your attention that would otherwise be narrating. After a few rounds, let the counting go and just keep the breath slow.

Slow breathing supports relaxation and winding down — think of it as setting the conditions for sleep rather than forcing it. If you regularly struggle to fall asleep, a doctor can help; this isn't medical treatment.

That's one reset. Slow gives you the right one for any feeling — one tap, no scrolling.
